10 Mar “I’m NOT a Thought-Leader”… And Other Things Thought-Leaders Tell Themselves.
Women. We're modest.
I once heard a saying that stuck with me: ‘If you consciously think you might be bragging or showing off, you are most likely are NOT. Those who truly ‘brag’, that thought never even crosses their mind.’
We women undervalue our experience, our expertise, our influence. We're more likely to shine the spotlight on other women than ourselves.
But after decades of experience, you, without a doubt, have amazing expertise to share with the world. And what is second nature to you is new information to others. It’s inspiring … it’s informative.
You ARE a thought-leader.
Though that's hard to remember if we've left the corporate world and feel like we lost that "identity." Or if we look within our curated social media bubble, and we forget the whole world isn’t filled with other business consultants who espouse the principles of manifesting or the HR expert who doesn’t feel like they’re the thousandth person advocating mental health in the workplace.
I am humbled at the clients who come my way. BRILLIANT women. (Yes, that is you, even though you’re thinking it isn’t you as you read this.) We are all change makers, creating a ripple effect of change, big or small....
When you strike out on your own and have the courage to share your expertise, your insight and your perspective. THAT is true leadership.
