Fear of Being Seen?

visibility- article-fear-of-being-seen

We all want to be seen!
Or do we really?

We all want more visibility, to gain more clients and more income & impact!

Yet, something often tends to keep us from ‘going big.’

Someone asked me this exact question recently: “What keeps you playing small?”

What a brilliant question. And it got me thinking…

We tend to suck up info and insight, and courses and webinars, and books and workshops. We have decades of experience and expertise. Yet…

We still procrastinate…  and tend to “play small.”

What is it that holds us back from getting visible? From stepping out from behind our business or corporate facade?

Is it fear of judgement? Of disappointing friends or family who have a different perception/expectation of who they want us to be? Or maybe disappointing yourself, trying to fulfill a narrative you thought you wanted…but isn’t serving you well now (now that you’re 20 years older)?

The greatest strength? The most courageous act? The most business-savvy decision? … is knowing when to let go of the past, when to embrace your true self, and to pursue what will fulfill you now?

After all, “life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
(a quote from Helen Keller)

What narratives have you been holding on to that don’t serve you well?...
“Shy”? (that was me all growing up!)
“Too aggressive?”
“Not creative/productive/smart/biz-savvy/articulate/etc. enough?”

Those are stories of the past.

I challenge you to rewrite your narrative.
A new narrative that is where you WANT to go.
Not where you’ve been (not that that experience can't be used to build credibility).

And then share it with the world! (or just me if you need a first step!)

Because no one ever made an impact – or income - by staying silent.
